Book Review: 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami

1Q84

What if the world you live in changes suddenly into a different world?

This is a story of love that transcends barriers. A much needed story in a world where love is condemned based on factors like Caste (in India) etc.

“If you can’t understand it without an explanation, you can’t understand it with an explanation”

Murakami does not explain certain aspects of the book. Like reader response theory, the reader has to fill in the gaps with his input and imagination.

Surreal? Yes. But the pace of the book is a little slow, gradually drawing the reader in. There are lots of references to music, literature and art, which I really liked.

Not meant for people who like fast paced books. With that being said, there are sections in which the tension is really high, making the mood completely intense.

All in all, a good read, according to me
